Greetings to the World!!!

In this new day and age, Indigenous historiography is evolving into a new era…

Coming from a long, very long line of procrastinators, I should have made this blog many moons ago… However, as we, me and you (the reader), come into a new age of 2026, where there has been many surprises within the last half decade.. From COVID-19 to the political nonsense going on in our world for the past few years, things have been thrown against the wall, splatting against the wall like a bucket of paint, left to dry out in summer, we as a collective party of Americans have been through the ringer. As a historian graduating with his undergraduate degree, the last few years have been quite the shitshow, per say, because of the curveballs society has decided to throw some of Gen Z’s final alumnus of higher education. Inspired by the will to create, develop, and share a better world for our kindred, us Gen Z’ers are already within the midst of creating our own legacy that will remembered in history textbooks in high schools across the United States fifty years from now. Starting the 2020s, we Gen Z’ers were supposed to be given a decade that was supposed to be filled with promises, successes, and triumphs. We were supposed to be the next greatest generation since the Baby Boomers and the Silent Generations who fought and overthrew both Fascism and Communism in the East and West. Even though, we have quite the trek ahead of us, mostly a rocky path made by ANOTHER pandemic in that of COVID-19, our world was toppled, both figuratively and literally upside down when the world shut down. Was it caused by our failure to work with one another as a singular, collective human race to stop the spread? OH HELL YES… But as come past 2025, lick our wounds, and come to fruition of what we want to be known as, many of us will become doctors, professors, athletes, administrators, government officials, and other higher end of the pole type of positions. Reflecting upon this is to say that our parents told us to strive for things that are higher, and guess what….. WE CAME THROUGH!!

Enough about my rant on my own Generation, it is now time to jump into the brief goal of this blog… As a historian whom is striving for newer pastures (Graduate School), I have an inherent, more natural purpose in my life when it comes to how I will be known within the world of Indigenous history and its larger umbrella of Indigenous Studies. I would love to be known as someone who was a great thinker and historian, who went above and beyond to educate the masses of Indigenous history and the many, many stories that come with it. This is not the most daunting task to man, but If I kept my word this long, then who knows? I might as well run for President!!! (THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN, mind you.) In the longer run, this blog will be an archive of book reviews, article reviews, my own thoughts in the relationships between politics and Indigenous peoples (a complex road to go through, but If I can keep you between the ditches, you will be fine), my own developments as a scholar, and maybe even a bit of my own life… WHO KNOWS!

Based on this, feel free to message your thoughts. Feel free to leave love, hate, or just to say hi, I will accept you (the reader) as you come. Cheers. – Braden
